It’s a year since we crossed the Sahara and tried to stay cool in 40-50° Celsius. Finally, here’s a video to show you what it was like. This is the real thing, including my footage from both good and bad times. Enjoy 😉

Hello Alex,
I just came across your side and have already half of all your blogs. Fascinating! And a great video on Sudan. Usually you only see all the fun.
One question I have for you: how did you bike perform? Did you like it?
Hi Victor,
thanks for your feedback, happy you like the blog.
I liked my bike and would buy it again. It was sturdy & perfect to get through all terrains. Though nobody else in our group seemed to particularly like it – too big and heavy – so that’s really only my subjective view.
Hi Alex,
Thanks for the awesome video, was grinning. I did the TDA Madagascar in 2019 and recently signed up for Africa full in Jan 2023, so am gathering all information…. prepare the mind.
How did you manage to charge ipad/phone during the trip?
Cheers, Stephen
Hi Stephen,
So cool! I’m almost jealous you’re still having this amazing journey ahead of you 😉
To answer your question, check this article: https://kilimanjaro-uncovered.com/solar-panels-and-battery-packs-for-climbing-kilimanjaro-my-recommendation/
It’s on my Kilimanjaro blog, but also explains my recommendations for TDA.
Hope it helps!
